End-of-Life Doulas

Companions throughout terminal illness

This week I was honored to speak with two Registered Nurses in other areas of the country that provide end-of-life support in addition to training/certification as End-of-Life Doulas.  This title echoes the care that most people are familiar with throughout pregnancy and the start of life; a perfect description of the same support and companionship needed at the final stages of life.

I enjoyed our conversations, and left feeling connected as well as filled with information about their practices. This work is necessary today as an adjunct to hospice care, and allows our aging population to have the support and care that is not possible within healthcare. I am excited to make these connections, and look forward to establishing a network of practitioners with which to further nurture my own practice.
